Phonics

This week the children have learnt the phoneme/graphemes s, a and t. They met Mr Fox and his phonic box and they helped him sort lots of objects.

They enjoyed singing these fun songs too.

They have brought home their first set of flashcards. Please use these at home to help them learn the phonemes. Please remember to make sure that your child’s reading record, flashcards and book are in your child’s bag every day.

Reading and Phonics Meeting

We are looking forward to seeing lots of you on Wednesday 11th October at our Reading and Phonics meeting. The 2.40pm will be held in the infant hall, please come into school via Mrs Walton’s front desk. Click here for the link for the 6pm online meeting.

Maths

This week we have been doing lots of subitising. When subitising, children can say how many there are in a small group of objects by ‘just seeing’ and knowing straight away without needing to count.

All About Us

We have been learning all about the friends in our classes. We have started to share our family photographs and talk about our home. We have learnt that whether we live in a flat, house, bungalow that they are our homes. We went for a look outside of school to see what else is near our school. The children noticed that not every home looks the same. We shared the story ‘In Every House, on Every Street’.

Everything Else…

Truman Books

As a school, we have a loyalty account set up with Truman Books. This means that if you, your family members or your children purchase any books from Truman Books and mention Farsley Farfield Primary School, we will accrue points to spend on lovely new books for school. They also have lots of children’s events planned for this year’s Farsley Literature Festival, details of which can be found at www.farsleylit.co.uk

The children in Nursery and Reception will not be attending the Harvest Festival next week. It is just for the children in KS1 and KS2.

Have a lovely weekend.
