We have had a fantastic first week in Year 1! The children have settled in well and are getting used to the new routines.
Phonics and reading
This week we have checked the children’s phonic knowledge and heard each child read. All of the children will now have a new reading record, a class colour banded reading book, and also a library book. The colour banded reading book is at your child’s current reading level and will be changed by staff when they hear your child read. A further colour banded reading book will be chosen independently by your child and this will be changed every Friday. Please read with your child at least four times a week and write a small comment in their reading record when you do so.
The library book is a book your child has chosen from our school library and is to be enjoyed at home. We change library books on a Friday.
