A very busy week in Year 2!

We have had an extremely busy week this week; 2LA have had their visit to the Mosque, our skipping team took part in a skipping festival at trinity University and we have still managed to fit in maths, English, science, computing, music, geography, PE, spellings, PSHE,  reading and art!

2LA Mosque Visit

On Monday, 2LA visited the Madni Masjid that many of our children attend. This visit was planned to consolidate the work already done in RE last term when we learned about both Christian and Islamic prayer. The children remembered lots and were able to answer questions well. It was great to have some experts with us too.

Here are some photos and some thank you letters too.

Skipping Festival

On Wednesday, the Year 2 skipping team attended a skipping competition at Trinity university. Children competed in individual and team events. We came home with lots of certificates! Well done to everyone who took part.

Maths and Geography

In maths this week, we have started our position and direction topic. Children have started to learn the vocabulary associated with position and direction; above, below, between, up, down, left, right, forwards and backwards.

Our work in geography linked to this. We learned the 4 compass directions and used these to navigate around a course of 9 cones.
