Sadly, it’s been rather a dull and dreary week weather-wise but the children are usually able to lighten the mood and raise spirits. I have enjoyed hearing practices for Christmas songs again this week and the Year 5 soloists are doing particularly well. The start of the world cup has caused some excitement, and is an opportunity for some map work, and I know some classes did watch some of England’s game on Monday.
There has been a lot of illness going around – staff and pupils, especially in the infants. Once again, good hand hygiene and catching coughs and sneezes are important. Scarlet fever has been diagnosed in a few cases and needs addressing promptly. Apparently, scarlet fever comes in peaks and troughs around this time of year and usually peaks once every four years. The last big national outbreak was 2018.
This week saw the end of an era as Danusia Gardner chaired her final sub-committee meeting as a governor of Farsley Farfield as she is retiring after over 20 years of wise voluntary service to the school. Danusia is a wonderful woman and she will be missed. Coincidentally, this week also saw the close of nominations for new parent governors and I am delighted that we have a number of excellent-looking nominations to choose from.
