Headteacher part time secondment

I have been asked to take on a temporary part-time secondment with the local authority to support the Director of Children’s Services and work on a number of projects across the city. I will remain head teacher at Farfield, and will be in school or in touch with school every day, but I will be spending half my time working in Leeds.

In my absence, Mr Cooke will take on the leadership of the school. Mr Cooke is a very experienced assistant headteacher and holds the National Professional Qualification for Headship.  Supported by our talented and experienced senior leadership and admin teams, the governors and I are very confident that the school will continue to be very well led and managed by Mr Cooke during this period. Mrs Shelley Daniels will also be supporting Mr Cooke two days a week for the rest of the term as regards his SENCO role, providing additional capacity within the school.

The secondment is expected to be reviewed at Christmas and I may return to school full time after that. If I don’t like it, or they don’t like me, I could be back full time before then – and that would be fine as I love being head at Farfield!

Mr Harris
