5KH residential Day 2: Caving and Mountain Biking

5KH residential Day 2: Caving and Mountain Biking

What a day we have had! The children have been absolutely fantastic all day!

We have a new caving instructor called Sean this year. We have done the same Long Churn Cave above Selside. It is a bit of a trek to get up there, especially in a hot day in full caving gear, but we all got there and managed to do the caving and lots of the challenges. Even some children who were initially trepidatious soon came round and achieved well. Autumn was labelled a “speleological legend” having been terrified beforehand.

We have so many caving photos here and a selection below.

The children were similarly determined mountain biking at Gisburn Forest with our legendary coach Chris Young. We had two great sessions around the blue route: Beck’s Bottom with a series of challenges for those that were confident (and competent) enough. We had a couple of big tumbles – one in the morning and one in the afternoon, but both boys dusted themselves down and continued with the ride. (There may some bruises and aches tomorrow.) A highlight was Saim learning to ride over the course of the morning after lots of input at school too. Zachary and Teddy managed a bonus additional section at the end with Chris and Mr Harris. There are LOTS of photos in this folder – along with some special videos of Saim – and a selection below. The weather was perfect.
