Dear Year 6 of 2026,

Next week you will be taking your SATs tests in Reading, Grammar, Spelling and Maths. We know that some of you may be feeling a little anxious, and so we wanted to take this moment to tell you how proud we are of the way you have worked: over the last eight months in Year 6, you have made great progress and shown us just how brilliant you can be.

We have sent letters like this in the past and said similar things – because they’re true. SATs do not define you; they are only a small part of who you are. These test papers cannot see your creativity, your talent for music, art or sport, or the way you help and care for other people. The SATS papers can not test some of the fantastic things you achieve at Farfield and outside school — whether that’s baking, growing things in the garden, building, performing, creating, or using your imagination in brilliant ways.

Some of you are wonderful friends, caring brothers or sisters, and people who make others feel happy and included. Some of you can make everyone laugh with a funny joke or cheer someone up when they are having a hard day. Each of you has your own strengths, talents, and personality. Those are the things that truly make you special.

Always remember, SATs are just one week of your journey — a chance to show how much you have learned and grown. No matter the outcome, you are already a success in our eyes.

So, as you step into this week, take a deep breath, do your best, and know that we are all so proud of who you are.

You are a Farfield child. You are unique. You are amazing.

With all our best wishes,

The Year 6 team.

Relax, enjoy the weekend – you have already done all of the hard work! See you on Monday.
