Headteacher blog 20th July 2018

It has been a good year: a very positive Ofsted inspection, standards that are around the national average or above in statutory assessments and some good school improvement initiatives have been actioned to further develop provision. We are all just about ready for the summer holiday – staff and children alike – but that doesn’t mean we have had a quiet week: quite the opposite!

Nursery had a lovely trip to Harlow Carr Gardens – shame a minibus wouldn’t start on the way back! We shall be getting a shiny new minibus in the autumn courtesy of governors’ commitment to educational visits and the fabulous PTA. 4G went all the way to Horton in Ribblesdale, Year 1 went to Blackhills Woods and Y3 took the train to Eureka for an explosive science workshop. Furthermore, 5L put on their own super concert, Years 2 and 3 had a transition picnic and Year 4 took part in a sports afternoon with other local schools. Our U9 cricket team performed well in a local competition. Year 6 put on their fabulous Leavers’ Show and the PTA put on the Leavers’ disco. And I have probably forgotten a few things…

Oh yes… we have also issued over 450 end of year reports this week!  We hope that parents and carers have found these useful. Many thanks to Mrs Hawkhead for all her hard work pulling these reports and associated documents together.  We have shortened the reports to try to support teachers and their workload but if you ever need any further information about your child, please do get in touch.

Have a great weekend!
