Head teacher blog 10th June 2016

This week Year 6 have enjoyed a new residential based at How Stean Gorge and it has been a definite progression for them in terms of Outdoor and Adventurous Activity. They have been camping and enjoying challenges such as abseiling, climbing, gorge scrambling and canoeing. The first group returned to school on Wednesday evening absolutely shattered, having had a truly memorable time. Superb weather helped…

Also out and about this week have been our youngest pupils: children in Nursery. All the children, and many parents, had a lovely day at Harlow Carr Gardens on Wednesday. Nature studies is a hugely important part of the primary science curriculum and it starts in the Early Years with exploration of our wonderful school grounds and includes regular infant trips to Meanwood Valley Farm, Rodley Nature Reserve, Skelton Grange and Blackhills Woods.

This week we have enjoyed considerable sporting success: our Y5 tennis team comfortably won the latest round of competition against five other local qualifiers and move on to the city finals as West Leeds champions: well done to Ben, Ty, Chloe and Faye. Our Y3/4 football team enjoyed a successful day at the John Charles Centre and played 9 matches; they won 6, drew two and just lost one by an odd goal.
