Camp-Over 2017: a really enjoyable day and night

We hope that everyone had a great time at Farfield Camp-Over 2017. We were lucky with the weather yet again and everything seemed to go to plan: the White Rose Cheerleaders and juggler Matthew Tiffany entertained us and the Obstacle Course was a big hit with competitive families. As usual, the water fight went on for hours whilst the gazeebo with nails and face painting, glitter tattoos and ‘hairdos’ was very busy for a couple of hours. Mrs James and Mrs Galbraith had our younger children singing and listening to stories around a small campfire and lots of slightly older children were making dens. Chickens were fed and eggs were collected.  There was a constant stream of people playing cricket and tennis, whilst the appearance of the tug of war rope led to much huffing and puffing (and plenty of laughter). After a delicious dinner (thanks Claire and Trish), musical duo Sebastopher entertained us handsomely for a couple of hours, and had some people dancing, before we all went up to the fire and many a marshmallow was roasted (and burned).

After a reasonably quiet night, a fantastic breakfast was served in the infants thanks to a brilliant group of early-morning volunteers led by Claire in the kitchen. The sun was shining and the site was cleared by lunchtime (many hands make lighter work!).

Many, many thanks to everyone that supported the Camp-Over, especially our brilliant PTA and volunteers led by Diane Walton. Once again, they did a magnificent job: well done!

Another fantastic camp over. This is what Farfield does best, really fun family time for everyone. We’re really going to miss this, might have to gatecrash next year!

This was our first experience of the camp over and we absolutely LOVED it, it was nothing short of the best school event imaginable. The grandparents have been to a few school fetes in their time and were so impressed with the wholesome activities on offer which made for so much fun for the whole family. We’re already looking forward to future camp overs and staying the night once the kids are older. Thank you and well done!!!

Thanks for another great campover. Never disappoints. If only we could stretch to 2 nights!! The kids loved making memories with friends and so did we. Loved the mix of activities and sebastopher were brilliant. Thanks to the PTA, all the volunteers and everyone who made it special. Xxx

As always, a fantastic campover! Everyone had a brilliant time and it is always so lovely to see kids just running around and being kids, in a safe and family friendly environment. Thank you!

The camp over is the highlight of the school year for our kids! Thankfully, the pre-booked sunshine arrived and we all had a fantastic time again. The assault course was a hit as was just the freedom of having the run of the school grounds for our kids. Really enjoyed Sebastopher’s entertainment again and want to say a big thanks to Mr Harris, Diane and everyone who makes it happen! ???

Thank you to everyone involved in this year’s Camp Over. It was another really great event. I know a lot of hard work went into making it happen and I hope those that volunteered got to enjoy the day and spend some time with your friends and family too. We had a really lovely afternoon and barely saw our kids who were having too much fun to be with us!

Another brilliant day/weekend (seems to get better each year!). Great to see such a relaxed atmosphere, in which the kids could ‘be kids’ (ours LOVED the assault course). Thank you 🙂

We had another fantastic time at campover this year. The kids get so much enjoyment from being ‘free’. We hardly saw the big ones who were off playing with their friends. This type of event is what makes Farfield stand out from other schools. Thank you to those who made it happen.

This was our first camp at the school and it just confirmed what an amazing school Farfield is. We are so lucky that our boy will be going in September. It was organised impeccably and there was so much to do. Every moment was filled with fun, food, music and sweets. Our two year old really enjoyed feeding the chickens.
Events like this really bring the FF community together – meeting up with other parents and letting the kids be kids in a relaxed atmosphere, which can only be achieved by a lot of hard work on the part of the organisers. Put me down on the volunteer list for next year, hopefully this will be a date in the diary for many years to come.

Where do I start….I feel so lucky that Jack attends Farsley Farfield, I already knew it was an amazing school but its event like this that make Farsley Farfield really stand out from the rest. Last year although I was part of the event through the PTA, I never got to experience it in all its glory until this year when Jack and I got the fully “camp over” experience. I like everyone else hardly saw my son – he was busy experiencing every single stall/event with his friends. His favourite being the water fight!! (good job I packed for a weeks holiday the amount of clothes he went through). It was so refreshing (especially in the world we live in today) to see kids being kids – having somewhere safe to play with not a care in the world. There was something for everyone. Being part of the PTA has allowed me to see this event from the planning stages to the event it all its glory this weekend. Diane has done an outstanding job – what would we do without her? I hope the PTA has raised bucket loads of money and thank you for allowing myself and Jack to be part of it. Speaking to Jack after the camp over I asked his views and this response I think sums up the views of most of the children….”Mummy it was EPIC! Can we do it again next year?”
